The internal road network at ORD forms a hexagon, with Terminals 1, 2, and 3 located along the lower three sides, and the Multi-Modal Facility (for car rentals) and parking lots and I-190 positioned in the upper half.

Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are domestic terminals, interconnected by pedestrian walkways.

Terminal 5, the newest addition, is situated a short distance away and is accessible via shuttle services and the Airport Transit System (ATS). It is designated as the international terminal; however, while some international flights depart from other terminals, all international arrivals are directed to Terminal 5.

The Air Canada terminal (Terminal 2) comprises 41 gates distributed between two concourses. Concourse E includes gates E1 to E17, while Concourse F encompasses gates F1, F3 to F7, F9 to F12, F14 to F17, and F19 to F28.

The gates with lower numbers are located in the main terminal, with E gates on the right side and F gates on the left side, until the terminal branches into separate concourses, as shown in the map above.

Both concourses feature a variety of shops and restaurants, and Concourse F houses a United Club.

• Information Services The Travelers Aid desks in Terminal 2 are located near the Changing Place facility in Concourse F and the information desks are located near Gate F4 and the Baggage Claim area.
• The Children’s Play Area is located post-security in Terminal 2.
• The Baby Facilities, i.e., nursing rooms in Terminal 2 are located between E5 and F9, F1 and E1.  The unisex family restrooms in Terminal 2 are located opposite E5, baggage claim, and the Family Room.

Transportation Options at Air Canada’s Terminal at ORD

Transportation services are available on both the upper and lower levels outside each terminal, clearly marked with overhead and floor signage.

Trains

• CTA Blue Line Trains: Operated by the Chicago Transit Authority, this underground train service connects the airport to the Blue Line. Running 24/7, it takes about 40 to 45 minutes to reach the Chicago Loop (downtown). The ORD station is located at Terminal 2 on the lower level of the main parking garage. Look for signs that say “Trains to City.”
• Metra: This commuter train service links downtown Chicago with the suburbs. The North Central Service stops at the O’Hare Transfer Station on the northeast side of the airport. To get there, take a shuttle bus from the upper levels of Terminals 1 to 3 or the lower level of Terminal 5. Alternatively, you can take the shuttle to the Multi-Modal Facility and walk a short distance to the station.
• Amtrak: To reach Amtrak services from La Grange Road Station, take Pace bus 330 from bus bay 9 at the Multi-Modal Facility.

Buses

Buses operate from the “Bus/Shuttle Center” on level 1 of the main parking garage.

• Pace: Pace buses offer routes to downtown Chicago and beyond. Route 250 runs daily to downtown from bus bay 9 at the Multi-Modal Facility.
• Regional Bus: For travel outside the Chicago area, numerous regional bus services are available. Check the airport’s website for details on operators.

Shuttles

Private and shared shuttles can be pre-booked. Go Airport Express is one option, with pick-up and drop-off outside baggage claim on the lower level. Other shuttles operate from the Bus/Shuttle Center.

Taxis

Taxis are available outside baggage claim on the lower level of each terminal. A ride to downtown Chicago typically costs around $30 to $40.

Limousines

Both pre-arranged and on-demand limousine services are available at each terminal, with pick-up on the lower level center road lane outside baggage claim.

Ride Services

Rideshare drivers can drop off and pick up passengers between doors 2A and D in Terminal 2, and outside door 5B in Terminal 5. Uber Black pickups occur on the lower level.

Parking Facilities at ORD

ORD offers a variety of parking options for passengers, both near the terminals and at the Multi-Modal Facility.

Short-term Parking

Hourly parking is available in the main garage (Garage Lot A) on level 1, next to Terminals 1 to 3. Parking Lot D, located by Terminal 5, has the following rates:

Garage Lot A offers covered parking with a height limit of 6 feet 6 inches, while Garage Lot D has no height restrictions.

Daily parking is available in Garages A (levels 2 to 6), B, and C (uncovered). These lots are also close to the terminals and are more economical for stays longer than 4 hours:

Parking Lot B has a clearance of 9 feet, and Lot C has a clearance of 8 feet 5 inches.

Long-term Parking

For extended stays, Economy Lots E, F, and G are the most budget-friendly options. Economy Lot F has a clearance of 8 feet 2 inches and is accessible via the Airport Transit System. The rates for Economy Lot F are:

Valet Parking

Valet parking is available in Garage Lot A. Follow the signs for “Valet Parking.” Rates are $26 for up to 8 hours and $64 for daily parking.

Reserved Parking

Reserved parking is available in Garage Lot A on level 4. By booking in advance, you can secure a spot and avoid searching for one. The reservation fee is $10 per day, in addition to standard parking rates.

Pick-up or Drop-off Parking

Curbside pick-up and drop-off are allowed at each terminal, but waiting is not permitted. Use the Cell Phone Lot for free temporary parking until your passenger is ready for pick-up.

Kiss ‘n’ Fly Parking

Located in the northeast corner of the Multi-Modal Facility, the Kiss ‘n’ Fly lot helps avoid congestion. Passengers can use the free ATS to and from this lot.

Off-site and Hotel Parking

Parking for Passengers With Disabilities

There are over 200 accessible parking spaces close to elevators and other facilities. Shuttle buses to and from the parking lots are wheelchair accessible.

Air Canada Destinations from ORD

Air Canada currently flies directly from Chicago (ORD) to Toronto (YYZ), Montreal (YUL), and Vancouver (YVR).

Security and Customs at Air Canada ORD Terminal 

Each terminal has a different number of security checkpoints. The security checkpoint at Terminal 2 is located at CP5 and is open from 4:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

TSA PreCheck

ORD has dedicated lanes at each terminal for TSA PreCheck. The checkpoint for Terminal 2 is located at CP5. The Enrollment Center is located in the Baggage Claim area of Terminal 1 (near door 1G) and is open on weekdays (Mon-Fri) from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. After receiving your Known Traveler Number, you’ll be able to use the TSA  PreCheck lanes at all U.S. airports.

Global Entry

ORD has Global Entry kiosks for expedited clearance for international travelers arriving in the U.S. The Enrollment Center at ORD is located in Terminal 5 and is open on weekdays (Mon-Fri) from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

Mobile Passport 

ORD allows passengers to submit their passport details and customs declaration to CBP via the app and present their instant receipts and passports to an agent upon arrival at ORD.

CLEAR

Chicago O’Hare International Airport participates in CLEAR to facilitate expedited security clearance through eye and fingerprint scanning. The CLEAR lanes in Terminal 2 are available for passengers eligible for PreCheck and standard security from 4:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Inter-Terminal Transport at ORD Airport 

The Airport Transit System (ATS) train service runs between the terminals, connecting Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 5.

The ATS also connects you to the Multi-Modal Facility for the economy parking lot F, the car rental center, Pace buses, Metra, and Kiss ‘n’ Fly. 

Airside Transport Post-security

The Terminal Transfer Bus (TTB) at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (temporarily suspended) transports passengers arriving on domestic flights between Terminals 1, 2, 3, and Terminal 5 for flight connections without having to re-clear at T5. However, the service is only available to you if you don’t need to collect your luggage between connecting flights or are arriving on an international flight with a flight connection involving a T1 to T3 transfer.

The TTB service operates from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, and departs from these gates in T3:

Walking

Terminals 1, 2, and 3 are connected via airside walkways. You can use the airside walkways if you’re arriving on a domestic flight and connecting to another domestic flight. 

The walkway from: 

• Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 is located opposite B5 and B6 on the departure level and will get you to Terminal 2 near gate E1. 
• Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 is located near gate F1 and will get you to Terminal 3’s rotunda.

The walking time will depend on your Concourse and Gates. The maximum distance between two terminals is between T1 (in Concourse C) and T3 in (Concourse L)—a little over one mile—and typically takes about 20 minutes. 

Landside Transport Pre-security

The Airport Transit System (ATS) light rail stops at all terminals outside the secure area, meaning that you will have to re-clear security at the connecting terminal. All ATS stations are located landside and marked by ATS signage. The trains operate in both directions at a fairly good frequency.
