Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) features two terminals that are about 3 miles apart by road with no walkways connecting them. To travel between the terminals, passengers must use the METRO Blue Line light rail transit (LRT), which stops at Terminals 1 and 2.

The journey between the terminals is free, but passengers can continue their travel on the Blue Line north or south for an additional fare.

Terminal 1 is the larger of the two terminals, housing the majority of flight operations and airport amenities. Certain ground transport services depart only from Terminal 1.

About Terminal 1

Terminal 1 consists of seven concourses—A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. Located at the northwest end of the airport, the concourses encircle the road system and parking structures.

• Concourses A and B: Positioned at the southeast end
• Concourse C: Stretches along one side
• Concourses D, E, and F: Situated at the north end
• Concourse G: Runs halfway to the opposite side

Check-in: Check-in areas are on the north side on level 2 for the majority of airlines and on level T for Delta. An underground tram on level T connects passengers to the Skyway security checkpoint.

Security Checkpoints: Passengers can access security checkpoints at both the north and south ends of the terminal for the concourses at the top end.

Concourse Details

Concourse A: Located at the southeast end with 13 gates (A2 to A14). It features moving walkways and a few shops and restaurants. Additional shops and dining options in Concourse C are accessible via the moving walkways or the underground tram near gate C27 on level T.

Concourse B: A satellite concourse at the south end with 16 gates (B1 to B16), accessible via an underground walkway from Concourse C. Passengers can use the shops and restaurants in Concourse C before heading to Concourse B.

Concourse C: The longest concourse, extending from north to south, with 27 gates (C1 to C27). It includes numerous shops, restaurants, and a Delta Sky Club. Moving walkways and an underground tram run the length of the concourse.

Concourse D: A smaller concourse with 6 gates (D1 to D6), located in the northeast corner just past the north security checkpoint. It has a few shops and restaurants, including a McDonald’s.

Concourse E: Located at the north end with 16 gates (E1 to E16). It is near the north security checkpoint and MSP Mall. It features shops, restaurants, a United Club, and an Escape Lounge on the mezzanine level.

Concourse F: Situated at the north end, opposite the south security checkpoint, with 16 gates (F1 to F16) and a Delta Sky Club. The concourse offers many shops and restaurants, with additional options just outside the entrance.

Concourse G: Located on the opposite side of the terminal from Concourses A, B, and C, it runs halfway down the terminal with 20 gates (G1 to G5, G6A, G6B, G9 to G15, G17 to G22). Moving walkways extend the length of the departure gates. Passengers can use either the south security checkpoint or the checkpoint near the transit center.

Terminal 1 Arrivals: Arrivals are on level 1, where baggage claim and ground transportation access are located.

Services and Amenities—Delta MSP Terminal 

• Cafes and Restaurants: MSP has more than 70 restaurants, mostly within the secure area. Some concourses don’t have any restaurants, so do check out the airport’s website before traveling. 
• For a free 4-hour wi-fi session, select “Boingo Hotspot” or “MSP Airport WiFi”. After 4 hours, you can reconnect for another 4-hour session, and so on. 
• Charging Stations are located throughout the terminals. 
• The Lost & Found office is situated near the valet station at Terminal 1 (Tram Level). If you lose an item, call 612-726-5141, submit a claim online, or visit the office between 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays and from 12:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays. • The children’s play area in Terminal 1 is located in Concourse C in the baggage claim area and near Gate C12.
• The baby facilities/lactation centers in Terminal 1 are located near Gates G9 in Concourse G, F2 in Concourse F, E1 in Concourse E, C13 in Concourse C, and the North Mall. 
• The Nursing Mothers Rooms in Terminal 1 are located at the entrance of Concourse E (near the restrooms), near Gate F4 in Concourse F, and above Gate C13 on the mezzanine level in Concourse C.  
• The pet relief areas in Terminal 1 are located on the C to G connector bridge, near Gate F6 and the entrance of Concourse E, outside the Silver Parking Ramp, and the secure area near doors 1 and 4 (baggage claim level). 
• The duty-free shops in Terminal 1 are located outside Concourse D in MSP Mall and past the south security checkpoint. 
• The smoking areas are located on the curbside outside both terminals.
• MSP does not have a multi-faith chapel but it does have quiet seating areas to pray or meditate in. They are located on the mezzanine floor within the secure area of Terminal 1.
• ATMs are located in both terminals in all concourses except B and D, in the baggage claim areas, and on the ticketing levels.
• Luggage storage services are not available at MSP.

Transportation Options at MSP Airport

Transport options at MSP airport include trains, buses, shuttles, taxis, and ride services. 

Trains

The Blue Line operates between Minneapolis’ downtown area and the Mall of America and stops at both terminals. You can also connect to the Green Line service to St. Paul. During peak hours, the trains operate every 10 minutes, and during off-peak hours, every 10-15 minutes.

Buses

• Bus 54 leaves from Terminal 1 of MSP to St. Paul. You can take bus connections to Minneapolis’ downtown area. If you’re in Terminal 2, you’ll need to take the free LRT to Terminal 1 because the bus service departs only from Terminal 1. 
• The Jefferson Lines Bus service departs from the transit area of Terminal 1 to Wisconsin, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. You book the tickets online or at the GO Rochester Direct Desk after arrival. 

Shuttles

Scheduled Shuttle Services can be pre-booked or arranged upon arrival. They include vans, buses, and limousines. Ticket desks are located in the ground transportation center. If you wish to prebook, the airport recommends these companies.

Taxis are available on Level T in Terminal 1.

Ride Services

Lyft and Uber are allowed to operate from MSP. Pickups from Terminal 1 are permitted from the green parking ramp on level 2 (check for the “app-based ride services” sign). For departing passengers, the standard drop-off area should be used. 

Parking Facilities at MSP Airport 

Hourly Parking — Terminals 1 and 2

For short visits under 4 hours, MSP provides hourly parking. Terminal 1 features hourly parking on level 3 of the gold ramp, while Terminal 2 offers it on the purple ramp.

Quick Ride Ramp — Terminal 1

The ramp can be accessed off Highway 5 at the Post Road exit (5315 Northwest Dr., St. Paul, MN 55111) and has a vehicle clearance of 9 feet 10 inches with designated motorcycle parking.

Global Entry

Global Entry is available for pre-approved passengers at both terminals. An Enrollment Center is located on the baggage claim level of Terminal 1 for those needing to complete their application with an interview. It operates Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The airport also offers Enrollment on Arrival, with interview stations at lane 13 in Terminal 1 and lane 1 in Terminal 2.

Traveling Outside the Secure Area

MSP Transit Systems

Light Rail Transit (LRT). At MSP Airport, the Light Rail Transit (LRT) service links Terminals 1 and 2 and operates outside the secure area. It runs from the transit center beneath Terminal 1 to the transit center connected to the parking facility at Terminal 2. The ride between the two terminals is free of charge, but a fare applies for travel beyond the airport boundaries.

Tram. In Terminal 1, passengers can take advantage of the tram to avoid a lengthy walk through Concourse C. It runs along Concourse C and connects to Concourse A and Concourse B, stopping near gates C27, C12, and C1. Additionally, another tram runs from the main terminal building on level T to the transit center, enabling access to the LRT for terminal transfers. This tram also provides access to the security checkpoint at the southern end of Terminal 1, facilitating entry to the higher-numbered gates in Concourses C and G, as well as Concourses A and B.

Traveling Inside the Secure Area

Walking. After clearing one of the three security checkpoints in Terminal 1, passengers can walk freely between any of the concourses within the secure area. This area forms a large loop around the parking structures, with Concourses A, B, and C situated on the longer side. Moving walkways are available in Concourses A, C, and G, while Concourses B, D, E, and F, though shorter, do not have moving walkways. Traveling on foot between Terminals 1 and 2 is not possible; passengers must use the LRT for inter-terminal connections.
